About Us
Producers To Owners: Aame is a story of women with different needs from rural areas of Andhra Pradesh, India. There were 300+ women with different needs getting skill training from Integrated Development Trust since 2001 in various crafts. Due to legal and financial complexities, it was decided by the management to end the project in 2020. Out of those 300+, 75 courageous women came forward and invested to incorporate a social enterprise owned by them, called, “Aame” Artisan Producer Co. Ltd. in July, 2021. Through Aame, the women are assuring accommodation, food, healthcare and livelihoods for themselves. Aame believes in fair trade and is a member of “World Fair Trade Organization” and “Fair Trade Forum India”. Sustainable Handicrafts: We are aware about the importance of environment and our way of taking care of the environment is by producing environment friendly products. All the raw materials we use like natural fibers, natural dyes, paper pulp and the production processes we follow, environment is at our core. We have a very wide range of home decor and lifestyle products and our women artisans also customize the products as per buyer’s needs and preferences. The Crafts: The knowledge of various crafts and experience of 20+ years are the strength for our women. During these years, the women have learnt and practiced jute weaving, tailoring, embroidery, paper crafts, eco crafts, jewellery making and paper recycling. Jute- baskets, plant holders, placemats, etc. Tailoring- uniforms, cloth bags, dresses, etc. Paper Crafts- recycled paper products, envelops, notebooks, etc. Jewellery- earrings, necklaces hair clips, etc.
