About Us
Fashion & Style – Bags & Accessories – Handicrafts & Jewellery: NEPALAYA garments are manufactured in the NEPALAYA CRAFT manufacturing site. The design of NEPALAYA is a melting pot of Nepalese and Western European fashion ideas: Trendy shirts made of eco-cotton, banana or eucalypt fibres, Gheri weaving bags designed in age-old Nepalese patterns complemented with 100 % naturally tanned leather, modern felted deco-articles, warming woolen hats and jackets, traditional harmonic singing bowls, upcycled Sari products, precious jewellery crafted by women endangered by human traffacking …and new ideas all around! Respecting the people Everyone is welcome! Christians, hindus, buddhists and muslims working together ensure NEPALAYA’s diverse energy. For NEPALAYA it is an affair of the heart to give decent and secure work to people who are socially or ethnically marginalized. Both Dalits — the caste of the so-called “untouchables” – and members of the Muslim minority belong to the workers of NEPALAYA. Focused on fair At NEPALAYA’s men and women work for the same and fair payment and enjoy the same rights, with a focus on women encouragement. Employees of NEPALAYA are granted health and accident assurances. As children are the best investment into a better future, NEPALAYA ensures that all workers’ families send their children to good schools.

Mission Statement

NEPALAYA’S Mission: The all-underlying idea of the co-operation between NEPALAYA focused on fair in Germany and NEPALAYA Craft in Nepal is: All trading and production is to be conducted according to Fair Trade principles as layed down in the WFTO Fairtrade Standard. The same applies to products bought at other producers (“partners”) and sold under the name of NEPALAYA. NEPALAYA offers long-time partnerships to these partners. Most important aspects to ensure the Fair Trade Principles are the recruiting of the staff and to develop a policy of sustainable purchasing of the processed raw materials. Thus NEPALAYA Craft employs men and women of the underpriviliged part of the Nepalese population: mainly persons belonging to the so-called untouchables, the lowest caste of the Hindu caste system; and persons of the Muslim minority; both do not have a fair access to the employment market of Nepal. Regarding the raw materials we invest in the purchasing of different sustainable clothing fibres, i.e. eco cotton, hemp, eucalypt and banana, plus the upcycling of Sari fabrics into new products, to help the clothing business in getting more and more climate-friendly.

We accept all statements for full financial years closed between December 2022 – July 2024, depending on your audits and which statements you have available. Check your 2023 submission to see the latest data we have at hand. Ideally, you now upload the details from the year afterwards. The WFTO team will check your submitted data and confirm the equivalent turnover/income amount in Euro. The Euro amount will form the basis for the calculation of your membership fee. For all currencies other than Euro, WFTO will apply uniform conversion rules. Due to the widely varying financial reporting periods among members, the date of the conversion is set at the end date of the financial report.
