FAIR BAND (Bundesverband für fairen Import und Vertrieb e.V.) was founded in 2013 as an interest group for fair importers and traders. Today, the non-profit association represents numerous companies – among others from the fields of fashion, handicrafts, sports, food and decoration. FAIR BAND sees itself as an active link between its members with the aim of promoting and strengthening fair trade. We see mutual support and networking as crucial to overcoming challenges and building on successes. The commitment of member companies to meet the general Fair Trade criteria (based on the 10 WFTO criteria) is an essential part of membership. For this purpose, a strict admission procedure and a binding monitoring system have been established. In the admission procedure, special attention is paid to the country and product competence of the members. The personal contact of the members to their producers as well as regular on-site visits are essential. The monitoring is based on regular dialogs in which the members present their company transparently and face critical questions from colleagues and the interested public.
