Fair Trade Lebanon (FTL) is a Lebanese non-governmental organization created in 2006. FTL was born out of the will of a few Lebanese who wanted to change the livelihoods of disadvantaged rural populations in Lebanon. They noticed the existence in rural regions of an underexploited agricultural infrastructure along with outstanding traditional skills and endemic high unemployment levels. FTL’s decision was based on the desire to create export opportunities for traditional small producers and food processing cooperatives living in these rural and far from center areas. FTL has the dual aim of improving living conditions for rural populations as well as developing foreign exchanges and export market opportunities for private enterprises in Lebanon.
