Artesol was born from the shared concern and commitment of people seeking to offer solutions to the challenges posed by Brazil’s social reality. Initially conceived as a poverty alleviation project in drought-stricken regions, Artesol – Artesanato Solidário was established in 1998 as a social program, and in 2002, it became a civil society organization of public interest. Its actions primarily benefit Brazilians living in the poorest communities of the country. The initiative is guided by the belief that traditional cultural practices, such as handicrafts, are a powerful resource for social transformation. Driven by this mission and supported by a network of solidarity actions, Artesol values the cultural identity of the communities in which it operates, fostering solutions that transform the daily lives of hundreds of talented Brazilians – the artisans. Artesol brings not only work and income to families but also pride, recognition, and social inclusion.
