Last month, Caterina Occhio (WFTO Europe Board Regional Representative) travelled to Chile to meet artisan WFTO Chilean weavers and discover their skills and quality products, including visits to
Witral, Cooperative Folil Araucanía and Relmu Witral, women’s Mapuche weaving cooperatives, as well as GreenGlass Chile.
The journey culminated in Santiago with the event Comercio Justo para Chile, held with buyers and the rest of the Asociación Chilena por el Comercio Justo (ACCJ) team, a WFTO Fair Trade Network based in Chile.
The event focused on three main pillars: promoting Fair Trade in Chile, exploring opportunities for Chilean Fair Trade Enterprises, and building capacity. Caterina presented key updates and the wider global context of Fair Trade and was later interview by Robin Ramakers.
The session concluded with a Business Roundtable and networking space, where 24 entrepreneurs (90% of them women) showcased their work, exchanged ideas for collaboration and launched promising new projects.
