Putting the interest of people and the planet at the heart of climate ambitions
There is no climate justice without Fair Trade. The Fair Trade movement states in a position paper released ahead of the 2021 COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow this November. Signed by major Fair Trade organisations, the paper calls COP26 negotiators to place the interests of artisans, farmers and workers at the heart of climate ambitions. It says climate aims must go hand in hand with climate and trade justice goals. Get a copy of the position paper here.

Improving Fair Payment criteria of the Fair Trade Standard
The Fair Trade Standard of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) looks at every aspect of a business and confirms whether it is truly a Fair Trade Enterprise. Adapting to current social and economic context, the WFTO Standard for businesses is constantly evolving to fit the needs of Fair Trade Enterprises (and their business partners). One of the recent developments is the revision of theFair Payment Principle and criteria to ensure it is applied at every level of the supply chain. Together with Bread for the World, we are working on a project with which we have created tools for our members and the people they work with to get a better understanding of Fair Payment and include it in their practices. Find out more about how WFTO ensures Fair Payment here.
