The WFTO Conference is part of the World Fair Trade Week event to take place from 8 to 15 November.
All roads lead to Delhi
Happening every two years, the World Fair Trade Week (WFTWeek 2017) is organised by WFTO and host partners to bring in international Fair Trade activities in one place. It was started in 2013 in Rio de Janeiro and since then the celebration is hosted in a major city like Milan in 2015. This year, all Fair Trade activities lead to New Delhi, India, from 8 to 15 November 2017.
India is chosen because it is one of the top Fair Trade producing countries in the world, with the highest number of Fair Trade Organisations operating in the country. Across India, a multitude of organisations has been providing viable alternatives towards a fair and sustainable development. Many of these social enterprises have become members of WFTO. Fair Trade Forum India is our host organisation and co-organising the activities of WFTWeek 2917

14th WFTO BIENNNIAL CONFERENCE: 'Fair Trade, A path to Sustainable Development'
The WFTO Conference is the largest global gathering of organisations representing the Fair Trade supply chain, from producers to wholesalers and resellers. Taking place every two years, it is the only international event that brings all actors of the Fair Trade movement in one place.
Where Fair Trade meets Organic movement. The 14th edition of the conference will be held in New Delhi, India, from 9 to 13 November 2017, which coincides with the 2017 Organic World Congress (OWC), also in Delhi. We are expecting over 250 participants from different organisations and businesses around the world, as well as decision makers, academics, students and other civil society representatives.
The programme includes plenaries, workshops and informal networking on exciting topics that demonstrate Fair Trade as a path to trade justice, equity and sustainable development. Workshop sessions will focus on the responses of the Fair Trade movement to the changing market environment and its contributions towards the realisation of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, an entire day will be devoted to workshops and activities bringing together the Fair Trade and Organic movements, a unique chance to share knowledge, experiences and build synergies.
Prominent speakers and workshop presenters have been invited to bring in expert opinion and contribute to discussions. Confirmed keynote speakers include Nicolette Naumann, Vice-President of Messe Frankfurt/Ambiente.
