Earth Heir is a social enterprise partner for The MADE51 project, a global UNHCR initiative which gives refugee artisans the opportunity to earn income and restore their sense of self-determination. This jewellery collection is produced by refugee artisans living in Malaysia. The intricate hand stitched cross- stitch embroidery is inlaid in silver and gold plated settings.
The geometric design ‘arabesque’ is inspired by the geometric motifs distinctive in Middle-Eastern art and architecture to honour the heritage of refugees from Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria and Iran. The zig zag design, Nuusum is inspired by the undulating mountains of Myanmar, and reflects the heritage of Burmese refugees living in Malaysia.
